The online BSc Data Science and Business Analytics programme prepares you to solve interdisciplinary problems and make strategic, clearly reasoned decisions using data. In addition to building core quantitative skills, you’ll examine the techniques, methodologies and principles that underpin modern data applications in management, economics and related disciplines.

Programme Structure

The BSc Data Science and Business Analytics programme – with academic direction from faculty at the globally ranked1 London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) – is a rigorous and rewarding programme suited to those with strong mathematical ability and an interest in quantitative analysis. As you develop your quantitative skills, you will also learn how to take an analytical, interdisciplinary approach to problem solving in a variety of contexts.

Build a quantitative foundation.
Your introductory courses in subjects like mathematics, statistics and economics will familiarise you with the quantitative, methodological and theoretical foundations of data science.

Cultivate applied skills.
Your intermediate courses will focus on practical competencies such as abstract mathematics, applied modelling and prediction, statistical inference and theory, and programming.

Explore high-level competencies.
Your advanced courses will give you the opportunity to explore specialised interests, topics in management and other intersecting social science disciplines, and statistical machine learning techniques.

Sample Course Sequence

The maximum period of registration is six years, but we suggest you aim to complete your programme within three to four years. To complete the programme in as few as three years, students must take four full courses (or equivalent) each year.

The table below shows the suggested course sequence when taking this programme through Standard Entry Route (equivalent of 12 full courses) over three years. All full courses are 30 credits and take 20 weeks of learning. Half courses are 15 credits and include 10 weeks of learning.
